"I LOVE Math!"
Yes, that is what my son said today during our lessons. One of the struggles Matt faces, being on the Autism spectrum, is math. At a time when he should be starting division, he still struggles with the basic facts.
I recently decided to start over with a classic textbook from 1881, First lessons in numbers: oral and written, and it has to be the best decision I have made thus far. I felt like I was going to burst today when he began reciting math facts to me and then that beautiful quote above.
The lesson: No matter how hard things may seem to be, or how much your child is struggling, you will both find your way. Something will work, it will click eventually. Just have patience and keep trying and do not worry about the "standards" your child is supposed to be at.
