If you’ve read some of my past post you know that our family is BIG on historical television, whether it is fictional or not, if it is a period piece we are in. As a non-Christian, secular homeschooling family you may wonder why we would be inserted in the History Channel’s new mini-series The Bible? First, let me tell you more about the show.
The Bible is a 10 episode mini-series premiering on the History Channel on Sunday March 3, 2012 at 8pm. This retelling of stories from the scriptures from Executive Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett is suited for the whole family. Using exotic locals and stunning visual effects the show will bring dramatic tales from Genesis to Revelations to a new generation.
Again, why is a non-Christian family so interested?
It is simple, we are not Christians, but we decided long ago that we would teach are children about all faiths when we felt they were old enough to allow them to make their own choices. My husband and I have recently been discussing starting our oldest, our 10-year-old son Matt, on a Christian Studies curriculum to compliment his homeschool studies. We he feel he is ready for it and that it will compliment history and Latin well.
The premier of The Bible on the History Channel just happens to come at a perfect time for us and will work well as great jumping off point.
Enough babbling about my interest in the show! Check out this awesome app below.
