For the most part I thought our week was pretty uneventful and was wondering what I would even write about besides the fact that the southeast turned into an freaking OVEN. Then nasty weather rolled in Saturday and I found myself desperately wishing we had a basement or at least an interior room.
You see, the first floor of the home we rent has open floor plan with no interior walls and windows on three sides. We knew a tornado warning had been issued, the TV was no longer working and Weather Bug wouldn't load on our phones. We watched as the old towering trees outside were being bent flat by the wind.
In a panic, we managed to squeeze the kids into the tiny pantry as we watched, holding our breath, waiting for it to pass and hoping for the best. In that moment we had realized just how terrifying it is to face mother nature with real place to hide.
Thankfully, all is well, we had a few branches slam down and maple that looks to be on it's last leg now, but that was all.
As for the rest of our week, like I said, pretty uneventful.
In my life this week…
I cataloged books and more books and actually managed to declutter and organize our school/office area. I'm currently at almost 400 books and well over 100 more to go, not counting eBooks or audio books.
In our homeschool this week…
The kids working on their gardens, studied snails, collected worms and even found some frog eggs that they are attempting to care for. They listened to Norse fairy tales, crafted, knitted and basically just enjoyed being kids.
