I've Been a Blogger Slacker & My Favorite Sick "Spiced Tea"

Seriously, I've been fighting off a vicious sinus/head cold thingy since the day after Christmas. While I've been able to keep from taking me down completely (scary flashbacks to last March when it took everything I had to drag myself out of bed for weeks) with some "garlic juice," spiced tea and probiotics, it is still taking its toll on me.

In the midst of the nastiness I picked up a freelance job and Disney money trumps the blog any day, sorry folks! I mean, I could find the time during the day to squeeze in a post, but I'm pretty sure the kids still want to eat and have clean clothes and we are not in an unschooling season, so skipping lessons isn't out of the question either.

I even totally forgot to update the RSS newsletter for the blog last week (psssttt...are you signed up? Why not? You will get a email every Friday with my post for the week plus some bonus stuff! Do it now!) but I remembered to do it today. Yay me!

I do PROMISE to try and sit down this weekend though and write until my poor little fingers can't type anymore to bring you some regular post again. After all, I don't want you to forget all about me.

But while you are waiting for me stop slacking, I'm going to share the recipe for my favorite sick "Tea" with you in case you are feeling as clogged up in the head as I have been.

That Odd Mom's "Spiced Tea"

I call it tea because it is hot and looks like tea, but there isn't actually any tea in it. Here is what you need.

  • 1 half-pint mason jar ( or similar glass container)
  • 4oz of raw organic honey
  • 2 tbs of Cinnamon
  • 1 tbs of Cayenne Pepper

Place the honey, cinnamon and cayenne in the jar and stir thoroughly.  Add 1 tbs to mug of hot water, stir thoroughly and drink up. (Be sure to stir before each use as the spices with rise to the top of the honey. 

Warning, it has a KICK but it works! I drink about two cups a day to help clear up my sinuses. It is one of the few things that will actually unplug my ears.

Note: Sometimes I will add the mix to a mug of green tea (then it really is tea, but the flavor of the mixture is so dominate that you are better off just enjoying your tea at another time.)
