Our How to Train Your Dragon Unit Study

I literally spent all day yesterday researching historical and science topics to match up with issues of The Arrow from www.BraveWriter.com because I have quickly fallen in love with Julie's philosophies of teaching.

Each Arrow issue teaches

  • Spelling
  • Punctuation
  • Grammar
  • Literary elements
  • Quality living literature

I have now planned units for each month, based upon a book used by The Arrow, and for the month of July Matt will be revisiting the world of Vikings and reading How to Train Your Dragon.

Ema will join in for the Vikings, Book Club & Physics classes and along with Ali (if she's not busy doing fun preschool play stuff) we will all do the read aloud books and projects together.

Here are all of the resources we will be using for the month to cover language arts, history, geography, science and nature study.

The Arrow: How to Train Your Dragon  by Cressida Cowell

Swashbuckler Vikings - A CurrClick live course we enrolled in the spring and did not complete (includes history, geography and a project)

The Physics of Flight - A CurrClick live class that starts the second week of July.

Magic Tree House Book Club: May 2013 Viking Ships at Sunrise - Previously recorded

    The Books

We will not read ALL of these, but they will be in the book basket or on the Kindle for free reading time.

There you have it, that is what we will be busy doing in our homeschool for the next month. The only thing not listed here is math and Ema's language arts. Hope you found something useful to your home education program!
