Our Odd Week in Review: Game On!

This week was supposed to kick off our week and a half long spring (cleaning) break. Monday and Tuesday would be spent with out standardized test and then we jump full force into all the nit picky cleaning that I don't get to (ummm...ignore) throughout the year.

Instead, the nasty little virus that entered our home last Friday has been slowly making its rounds. First Ema last Friday through Sunday. Then it started to get Matt on Tuesday and my turn on Wednesday. Ema is great now and Ali never even really "got" it other than a slight temp Friday night and a bit of a sore throat Saturday morning. Don't even get me started on The Hubs and his seemingly superhuman power he has developed that allowed him to get by unscathed!!!

As for me and Matt, we are STILL sick. Sure the fevers only lasted 24 hours and the sore throats two days, but now the two of us might as well have faucets attached to our noses.

Can you tell, I am SO ready to feel BETTER!

Somehow we did muddle through the week though, so here it is, our week in review.

In my life this week…

I realized how much I despise standardized test, even though the kids ended up seeming completely unfazed by them. I was so stressed out that I kept itching and itching and then I realized, "flipping really, for the first time in years I have hives from stress!"

In our homeschool this week…

Matt and Ema took the SAT-10 and they conquered it. While they tested low in few subcategories, like spelling (that I totally expected,) overall they did really well. Now I have that little piece of paper that proves my kids learned something this year. :::snort:::

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

If you NEED to test your kids for state requirements, the SAT-10 through Seton Testing Services, really was painless and we had our results in a few days. The kids could take breaks as often as they needed as long as they finished the assigned test by 5 PM that day.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Well, we missed out on the Debbie Ryan concert and signing up for swim lessons thanks to these dang icks! I've requested a trip to the sesquicentennial commemeration of the capture of Lincoln's Assasin in Port Royal, Va in two weeks for my birthday.

My favorite thing this week was…

Um, being done with the test and the fact that The Hubs cooked dinner multiple times, even with a hurt back, because he knew how miserable I was.

My kiddos favorite thing this week was…

Turning Matt's room into a gamer station aka camp. They pretty much lived in it the rest of the week. Mom's reward for finishing up the test and starting petty fights with each other while we are all under the weather.

I do have to say though, they might have been equally excited about finding a snake in the yard that the cat was playing with and another snake, a worm snake, that they have turned into a pet....shivvvvveeerrrrrr!
