Our Odd Year in Review and Happy New Year
Can you believe it is 2016 already? This past year really just zoomed by for us and while it had ups and downs, I'm hoping this new year takes on a slower pace and lets us savor the moments just a while longer.
Before I fully embrace what a brand new year may have in store for us, I want to take some time to reflect on 2015.
The kids and Adam got to experience their first snow! We didn't get a lot last year in Virginia, but it was enough for many first; snowball fights, snow angels, sledding, a snowman and lots of fun.
We found out what it feels like to ride a roller coaster in 30 something degree weather during our first visit to Kings Dominion. Brrrrrrr......
The kids rocked their first SAT-10's in the late spring. A.K.A. - I was freaking out over nothing (seriously, I had hives) about my kids having to test for evidence of progress, and it was nothing.
I had two great contributors for a while on the blog and I really hope to bring some back this coming year. They added their own quirky voices to this odd little world and I loved it.
We made a trip to Florida to visit family our beloved Meme, who passed away eight days after we left, from cancer. I've missed her beautiful smile and always encouraging words but I am so glad we were able to go see her one last time.
The girls grew like weeds! Ema went from a size 7 to size 12 in a years time, slapped me right in the face with puberty and hormones, and has surpassed me shoe size. Ali went from a size 5 to a size 7 in a year and finally decided she is a "big girl" that isn't afraid to sleep in her own bed.
We have a freaking TEENAGER now! How the hell did this happen? I swear I just in full on mombie mode trying to rock his tiny 6 lb bottom back to sleep every night at 3 am.
Finally, I learned just how good my family is at keeping secrets when I walked down stairs to see my mom sitting in my computer chair, here for a surprise Christmas visit. I had NO idea she was coming and they had all managed to keep the secret from me for a month. It really helped boost my holiday spirit in a year when I really wasn't feeling it.
I hope you can look back at 2015 and find moments that make you smile and hug your loved ones just a little bit tighter. Here's to a fantastic new year and whatever it may bring you!
